Garth O. Reid

            Garth O. Reid received his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the University of Idaho in 1967.  After college, he served on active duty in the United States Army as an Artillery Officer.  Mr. Reid was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain after serving four additional years in the Army Reserves.

            Mr. Reid earned his California Certified Public Accountant’s license in 1971, after practicing public accounting in the San Francisco area, both with a big-8 accounting firm and with a local accounting firm.  Mr. Reid has maintained his CPA license ("inactive") continually since 1971.

            Mr. Reid received his Juris Doctor in 1975 from Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco, California.  During law school, he clerked for the Office of the Regional Counsel of the Internal Revenue Service in San Francisco, working in the Tax Court, General Litigation, and Criminal Reference Sections of the Regional Counsel’s Office.

            Upon graduating from law school, Mr. Reid joined the law firm of Best, Best & Krieger in Riverside, California, and subsequently joined the firm of Alan S. Rich, A Professional Law Corporation, in Escondido, California.  Since 1983, Mr. Reid has been certified as a Tax Specialist in Taxation Law by the California Board of Legal Specialization of the State Bar of California.

            Since 1980, Mr. Reid has maintained his own law practice in Escondido. Mr. Reid’s practice emphasizes assisting individuals, close corporations, professional corporations, closely-held partnerships, and nonprofit organizations in the areas of federal and state income tax planning, estate and gift tax planning, corporate law, partnership law, general business law, federal and state tax disputes and controversies, and trust administration.
